VNUS Closure
In suitable patients, this is a very effective technique for treating large varicose veins on an
outpatient basis. The whole episode usually takes about 90 minutes. Under local anaesthetic a
catheter (tube) is passed up the varicose vein, which is then sealed from the inside using gentle
heat generated by microwaves.
You will have a stocking fitted and you can drive home from the hospital.
Most patients have minimal discomfort or bruising, and generally return rapidly to normal activity.
