The Consultation
Your appointment with the Consultant will normally take about 30 minutes. The aim of the consultation is to find out precise
details about your condition, and then to discuss with you the treatment options that will suit your particular requirements.
During the consultation, your Consultant will take a detailed history of your problem, and then perform a careful examination
so that an accurate diagnosis can be made.In some cases, further investigations will be required in order to plan treatment.
This may require a further visit to the x-ray department for a scan. In many cases, for instance in patients with varicose veins,
a scan can be performed at your first consultation using a portable ultrasound scanner.
During the consultation you will have an
opportunity to discuss all aspects of your condition with your Consultant, including the treatment options available and the
costs involved.
